Munich, November 22, 2023 - The software manufacturer InLoox has launched a new version of its project management platform. In addition to enhanced functionality for resource management, InLoox 11.5 offers new features for project description and evaluation on the manage page as well as for creating dashboards and reports. Businesses will benefit in three strategic areas: firstly, they will be able to better recognize the effects of resource bottlenecks and balance capacities where necessary, secondly, they will be able to plan projects more effectively from the outset and thirdly, they will be able to make more informed decisions based on bundled project data and tailored reports. In order to further improve the collaboration and efficiency of project teams, the document management capabilities of the platform have been revised, new comment functions for documents and time tracking entries have been created and an export/import function for list views has been set up. The latter also saves project managers time and effort, as the individually created lists can be shared with other users.

"In the face of a major shortage of skilled workers, resource management is one of the three most important factors for companies to gain a competitive edge - if not the most important," says InLoox co-founder and Managing Director Dr. Andreas Tremel. "When developing our project management platform, we chose to focus on areas of application that are strategically important for companies: From planning and managing projects to project portfolios based on centrally available company data that needs to be collected, evaluated and used on a business-specific basis in order to make the right decisions."

Identifying the consequences of bottlenecks and balancing workloads at team level

The resource overview in InLoox 11.5 has been expanded in two ways. Firstly, companies can now use the resource utilization view to plan projects in greater detail and avoid potential bottlenecks. The resource utilization view is linked to the Gantt chart, which displays the team members who are assigned as resources to the tasks shown in the chart. By simultaneously monitoring project progress and the associated resource utilization, bottlenecks and their effects - such as the consequences of delays - can be easily identified.

On the other hand, resources can now also be tracked at team level in the resource overview. As the overall workload can be determined for teams - for example at locations, departments, etc. - companies can plan, control and balance not only individual resources, but also the respective workload for entire teams.

From project description and project evaluation to portfolio management

With the new project description on the manage page of each project, project managers can create a central source of information that includes all essential project information and promotes a common understanding. This includes important links to documents and external pages as well as the definition of comprehensive project objectives, which are entered in a text field.

Additionally, a project evaluation can be created. This aims to classify projects more accurately, set clear priorities and ultimately plan and implement them more effectively. For this purpose, the respective project is evaluated on the basis of the three categories "risk", "size" and "value" on a scale of 1 to 10 and an overall score is determined. Project managers thus take the first step towards comprehensive portfolio management, which involves the use of scarce resources, project selection, prioritization and strategic project controlling.
